Bay to Breakers annual footrace

Bay to Breakers is an annual San Francisco footrace first run in 1912 that attracts tens of thousands of participants each spring. The course traditionally travels east-to-west across the city from the Civic Center area to the Great Highway at Ocean Beach. The event is known for competitive runners as well as costumed participants and large community participation. The race has historically used the area around San Francisco City Hall / Civic Center as its start/assembly area.
