Blackwell School National Historic Site

The Blackwell School National Historic Site in Marfa, Texas, commemorates the history of a segregated school that served the Hispanic community from 1909 to 1965. Established as a unit of the National Park Service in 2024, the site highlights the impact of segregation and the importance of education in Mexican American culture. The main adobe schoolhouse, along with the Band Hall built in 1927, reflects the school's legacy, which once had over 600 students.
