Carpenters' Hall (First Continental Congress site)

Carpenters' Hall was built in the 1770s by the Carpenters' Company of the City and County of Philadelphia and represents 18th-century Georgian civic architecture. The building hosted the First Continental Congress in 1774 before Congress moved to larger quarters. Its meeting hall and detailed interior woodwork reflect the craftsmanship and civic role of Philadelphia’s artisan guilds in the colonial period. The hall is preserved as a historic meetinghouse and museum.
