Coors Field opened in 1995 as the home of Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies and was designed by HOK Sport (now Populous) in a retro-classic ballpark idiom. The stadium's brick façade, exposed steel trusses, and irregular outfield dimensions reference early-20th-century baseball park design while accommodating modern amenities. Its placement in the LoDo district helped catalyze downtown redevelopment and influenced subsequent sports venue designs in the 1990s.
