Mrs. O. H. P. Belmont House

The Mrs. O. H. P. Belmont House was a notable mansion in Midtown Manhattan, completed in 1909 for socialite Alva Belmont. Designed by the architectural firm Hunt & Hunt, the neoclassical townhouse featured a limestone facade and eclectic interior styles. A significant addition, The Armory, housed a collection of medieval armor and later served as a venue for women's suffrage lectures. After changing ownership in 1923, it was utilized by Catholic Charities until its demolition in 1951. Today, the site is occupied by a modern office tower, marking the transition from a historic residence to contemporary urban development.
