Kimbell Art Museum (Louis Kahn building and Renzo Piano addition)

The Kimbell Art Museum's original building, designed by Louis Kahn and completed in 1972, is celebrated for its series of cycloid barrel vaults and use of controlled natural light. The museum maintains a small but high-quality permanent collection spanning antiquity through the 20th century and presents rotating special exhibitions. A Renzo Piano-designed expansion opened in 2013 to increase gallery space while preserving Kahn's original architecture.
