Kenney Gym and Kenney Gym Annex

The Kenney Gym and Kenney Gym Annex, located on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, are historic buildings with rich athletic heritage. The Annex, originally built in 1889-90 as the Military Drill Hall, was converted into a gymnasium in 1914, preserving its spacious interior. The Kenney Gym, constructed in 1902, served as the home for the Fighting Illini men's basketball team before the opening of Huff Hall in 1925. Today, the Annex functions as a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena, while the Kenney Gym serves as a practice facility for gymnastics teams. Both buildings are also utilized by University Laboratory High School for various sports, making them integral to the local athletic community.
