Stax Museum / Original Stax Records Site

The Stax Museum sits on the original site of Stax Records at 926 E McLemore Avenue, where the label recorded many classic soul records in the 1960s and 1970s. Stax's integrated house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and artists such as Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes made landmark recordings there. The museum opened on the location in 2003 and preserves exhibits, instruments, and parts of the original studio.
