Province House (Boston, Massachusetts)

The Province House, built in 1679, was a grand mansion in Boston that served as the residence for royal governors of the Province of Massachusetts Bay. Renowned for its impressive architecture, including a notable main staircase and Tudor-style chimney stacks, it exemplified New England colonial design. Despite its historical significance, the building fell into disrepair and was partially burned in 1864, ultimately being demolished in 1922. Today, only artist renderings and photographs of its demolition remain, along with a portion of the original stone steps leading to its former garden, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
