Congressional Cemetery

Congressional Cemetery was established in 1807 and has long served as a burial ground for members of Congress, diplomats, and other notable Washington figures. The site includes the distinctive early-19th-century cenotaphs designed by architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe to commemorate members of Congress who died in office. It continues to operate as an active cemetery and historic site offering public tours and events.
