USS Blueback at OMSI

The USS Blueback (SS-581), a diesel-electric submarine and the last non-nuclear submarine to enter U.S. Navy service, is a museum ship berthed at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. OMSI's waterfront campus at this address includes the submarine as part of its permanent exhibits. The presence of a Cold War–era submarine on the Willamette River is a frequently noted and lighthearted point of bemusement among Portland residents and visitors.
