Prästgården

Prästgården, or 'The Parsonage', is a historic building located on Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm. Originally constructed in the 1730s as a resting place for workers, it evolved from a one-storey tavern known as Stenkrogen to a canteen and barracks for the naval reserve. By the 1840s, it had transformed into classrooms and underwent several renovations, including a significant one in the 1860s to meet educational standards. In the late 1920s, it was adapted to serve as the residence for the naval station's priest, complete with a chapel and garden. Today, Prästgården is part of the Moderna Museet, where it contributes to the museum's sculptural park, making it an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers interested in Stockholm's maritime history and architectural evolution.
