Fontainebleau Las Vegas construction site (unfinished tower imagery)

Construction of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas skyscraper began in 2007 at 2777 S Las Vegas Blvd but halted during the 2008–2009 financial crisis, leaving a prominent unfinished high-rise on the north Strip. Photographs and video of the skeletal, partially completed tower circulated widely online as images, GIFs, and memes symbolizing stalled development and abandoned projects. The incomplete structure’s visibility from the Strip made it a frequent subject of urban photography and internet commentary about Las Vegas redevelopment.
