Stadelheim Transmitter

The Stadelheim Transmitter, located in Munich-Stadelheim, was established in 1926 near the notable Stadelheim Prison. Initially operational in March 1926, it featured a T-antenna supported by two impressive 100-metre-high steel towers. Despite its innovative design, the transmitter faced significant technical challenges, leading to the replacement of its antenna later that year. A storm in 1930 caused further damage, prompting the construction of new wooden towers. After the inauguration of the Ismaning transmitter in 1932, Stadelheim served primarily as a backup facility, with its last known operation occurring in late 1933. This historical site reflects the early advancements in broadcasting technology and the challenges faced in its implementation.
