Elliott Furniture Company

The Elliott Furniture Company, located in Des Moines, Iowa, is a historic building constructed in 1891 in the Italianate style. Originally built for undertaker and cabinet maker Gustav Newlen, it was later acquired by the Elliott family, who transformed it into a unified storefront for their furniture business. The building underwent significant renovations in 1936 and 1940, which introduced large display windows and Art Moderne elements, respectively. Recognized for its historical significance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
