Newdigate House

Newdigate House is a historic Grade II* listed building located on Castle Gate in Nottingham, England. Originally built for Thomas Charlton the younger in the late 17th century, it has a rich history, including serving as a prison for Camille d'Hostun, duc de Tallard, after his defeat in the Battle of Blenheim. The house features a wrought-iron screen and gates designed by Francis Foulgham, commissioned by Thomas Newdigate in the early 18th century. Over the years, it has changed hands multiple times, serving various purposes, including as an antiques shop and an office for the War Relief Fund during World War I. Most recently, it operated as the United Services Club and housed the World Service restaurant until its closure in 2024, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in Nottingham's architectural and social history.
