New-York Historical Society

Founded in 1804, the New-York Historical Society is the city's oldest museum and repository of materials on New York and American history. Its collections include American art, historical documents, prints, and material culture, and the institution mounts rotating exhibitions and public programs. The society also operates the DiMenna Children's History Museum and maintains research collections used by scholars and the public.
