Siege of the Alamo (1836)

From February 23 to March 6, 1836, the Alamo on Alamo Plaza was the site of a pivotal siege and battle in the Texas Revolution in which Mexican forces under General Antonio López de Santa Anna overran the mission. Texian defenders including William B. Travis, James Bowie, and Davy Crockett were killed during the final assault. The loss became a rallying cry for Texian forces in later battles, summarized by the phrase "Remember the Alamo." The Alamo is preserved as a historic site and museum.
