Garrett VanMeter House

The Garrett VanMeter House, built between 1830 and 1835, is a historic two-story brick dwelling located near Old Fields in Hardy County, West Virginia. Showcasing Greek Revival architectural elements, it features a distinctive entrance portico and a summer kitchen. This house was constructed by Garrett VanMeter, a descendant of one of the area's first white settlers, Colonel Jacob Vanmeter, who was a prominent figure in the region's early history. The house is part of a collection of significant VanMeter family homes and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001, making it a noteworthy site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American history and architecture.
