The Parthenon (Centennial Park)

Completed in 1897 for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition, the Parthenon in Nashville is a full-scale replica of the 5th-century BC Parthenon in Athens. It was built as the exposition's central architectural feature and was retained as a permanent structure in Centennial Park. The building houses an art museum and a 42-foot statue of Athena. As a reconstructed ancient temple it represents classical ritual architecture reproduced in Nashville.
