Stampede Corral

The Stampede Corral was a historic multi-purpose venue in Calgary, Alberta, known for hosting a variety of events including ice hockey, professional wrestling, rodeo, and concerts. Opened in 1950, it was the largest arena in Canada west of Toronto at the time and featured unobstructed views for spectators. The Corral was home to the Calgary Stampeders hockey team and hosted significant events like the 1972 World Figure Skating Championships and the 1988 Winter Olympics ice hockey matches. It also featured performances by renowned artists such as Joni Mitchell and Tegan and Sara. Despite its rich history, the venue was demolished in 2021 to make way for an expansion of the BMO Centre, marking the end of an era for a beloved Calgary landmark.
