Christ Church (Old Church of Philadelphia) - colonial-era parish

Christ Church in Old City was constructed during the 18th century (construction beginning in 1727) and served as a place of worship for many colonial leaders and members of Philadelphia's early civic community. Contemporary records indicate that figures such as George Washington worshipped at Christ Church while in Philadelphia. The church building and parish remain important historic and neighborhood landmarks in the Society Hill/Old City area.
