Mount Pleasant (mansion)

Mount Pleasant is a historic Georgian mansion located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, offering stunning views of the Schuylkill River. Built around 1761-62 by privateer John Macpherson, the mansion features elegant architecture with Doric columns, a balustraded roof, and original period furnishings. Notable visitors include John Adams, who praised it as 'the most elegant seat in Pennsylvania.' The mansion has a rich history, having also been home to Benedict Arnold and later Jonathan Williams, grandnephew of Benjamin Franklin.
