SuperSonics relocation to Oklahoma City (2008)

The Seattle SuperSonics NBA franchise played at KeyArena (Seattle Center Coliseum) in Seattle until the team was relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2008. The relocation followed the sale of the team to an ownership group led by Clay Bennett and was the subject of legal disputes and public controversy in Seattle. The move ended 41 seasons of the SuperSonics' presence as a Seattle-based NBA team. KeyArena has since been renovated and reopened as Climate Pledge Arena.
