Boston Marathon (world's oldest annual marathon)

First run in 1897, the Boston Marathon is recognized as the world's oldest annual marathon. The race traditionally finishes on Boylston Street in Boston near Copley Square, where the finish line has been located for many decades. Organized by the Boston Athletic Association, the event attracts elite international competitors and tens of thousands of participants each year on Patriots' Day.
