Gardams Building

The Gardams Building, located at 114 Queen Street in Brisbane, Queensland, is a heritage-listed retail structure built in 1881, notable for its Victorian architectural style and ornate Italianate detailing. Originally constructed for jeweller Thomas Gerrard, it has housed various tenants over the years, including Gardams Silk Store and currently serves as the flagship store for Flight Centre. The building features a striking facade with large plate glass windows at street level, while the upper facade retains its historical charm with round arched windows and elaborate cornice work. Recognized for its cultural and aesthetic significance, the Gardams Building contributes to the historical streetscape of Queen Street and was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 1992.
