The Old Rectory, St Andrews Major

The Old Rectory, located in Dinas Powys, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, is a historic building dating back to the 15th century, originally serving as the residence for the rectors of St Andrews Church. This L-shaped structure features two double-light windows believed to have been sourced from the adjacent church. With a rich history, it was partially tiled and thatched in the 18th century, later transitioning to a slate roof. The building includes original stone mullioned windows and has served various purposes over the centuries, including a carriage house after a new rectory was built in 1830. Notably, during the English Civil War, its occupant, Dr. Hugh Lloyd, was captured at the nearby Battle of St Fagans. The Old Rectory was designated a Grade II* heritage site in 1963, recognized for its rarity and historical significance.
