Shire Hall, Bedford

The Shire Hall, located in St Paul's Square, Bedford, is a historic municipal building that served as the headquarters of Bedfordshire County Council from 1888 to 1969. Designed by Alfred Waterhouse in the Gothic revival style, it features striking architectural elements such as a symmetrical façade, arched porch, and turrets. Originally built in 1881 to replace an earlier sessions house, the building has a rich history, including notable court cases like the trial of William Chambers for murder.
