New Providence School Gymnasium

The New Providence School Gymnasium, also known as the New Providence Roundhouse, is a historic round building in New Providence, Iowa, built between 1935 and 1936 as part of a Public Works Administration project. Designed by the Des Moines firm Keffer-Jones, it is notable for being the first round gymnasium in Iowa. Over its 50 years as a school facility, it hosted numerous basketball tournaments, graduations, and community events. Today, it serves as a community center and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, making it a unique destination for tourists and researchers interested in architectural history and community heritage.
