Chicano Park murals under the Coronado Bridge

Chicano Park in Barrio Logan contains the largest concentration of Chicano murals, painted on the concrete pillars and abutments beneath the San Diego–Coronado Bay Bridge. The park was created after a community occupation of the land in 1970 to prevent development, and local Chicano artists began painting murals there in the early 1970s. The murals portray Mexican and Indigenous history, cultural icons, and political themes; community groups and artists continue to restore and add new works.
