Originally constructed in the late 18th century, it has a rich history, having served as a residence for notable figures such as jurist Anders Sandøe Ørsted and his wife Sophie, who hosted literary salons that contributed to the cultural scene of the time. The building has undergone various transformations, including serving as a dyeing business and later housing the newspaper publisher Politiken. It was listed as a protected building in 1959, showcasing its architectural significance, characterized by a seven-bay facade and a gabled dormer.
