Former Arikabe-juku Honjin

The Former Arikabe-juku Honjin is a historic inn located in Kurihara, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, along the Ōshū Kaidō highway, which connected Edo with northern Mutsu Province during the Edo period. Established in 1619, it served as a resting place for travelers, including daimyō on their way to Edo. The current structure, rebuilt after a fire in 1744, features preserved elements like the original gate and Kura. Although the interior is not open to the public, it contains significant historical materials from the Edo period. The site has been designated a National Historic Site since 1971, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers interested in Japan's rich history.
