Guardian Building (Art Deco landmark)

The Guardian Building is an Art Deco skyscraper completed in 1929 and designed by architect Wirt C. Rowland. Its lobby and banking hall are notable for extensive tilework, mosaics, and ornamentation, some of which incorporate tiles produced by local craftsmen. Nicknamed the 'Cathedral of Finance,' the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a major element of Detroit's architectural and cultural landscape.
