Executive Mansion, Monrovia

The Executive Mansion in Monrovia serves as the official residence and workplace of the President of Liberia. Built between 1961 and 1964 during President William Tubman's administration, it is located near the Capitol Building. The mansion has a tumultuous history, including the assassination of President William Tolbert during a coup in 1980 and reports of blood rituals under President Samuel Doe. After being severely damaged by fire in 2006, it was reopened on February 14, 2022. This site is not only a political hub but also a significant landmark reflecting Liberia's complex history.
