San Diego Natural History Museum - regional archaeological collections and repatriation

The San Diego Natural History Museum (The Nat) in Balboa Park maintains archaeological and paleontological collections that include artifacts and faunal remains from prehistoric sites in the San Diego region. The museum has participated in research on coastal and inland prehistoric occupations and has been involved in repatriation consultations under NAGPRA with local Native communities. Its exhibits and research publications are used as resources for understanding Indigenous lifeways in the San Diego area.
