Parliament Building, Windhoek

The Parliament Building, known as the Tintenpalast or 'Ink Palace', is a significant architectural landmark in Windhoek, Namibia. Designed by German architect Gottlieb Redecker, this Neoclassical structure was built between 1912 and 1913 as an administration building during the German colonial era. It has a complex history, including the use of forced labor by the Herero and Nama people. Since Namibia's independence in 1990, the Tintenpalast has served as the seat of the National Assembly. Surrounded by the popular Parliament Gardens, it is a focal point for both locals and visitors, although there are ongoing discussions about the need for a larger parliamentary space due to an increase in the number of parliamentarians.
