Cleveland Home for Aged Colored People

Eliza Bryant Village, formerly known as the Cleveland Home for Aged Colored People, is a historic residential building located at 7201 Wade Park Ave in Cleveland, Ohio. Founded in 1893 by Eliza Bryant, the facility was established to support older African Americans who faced isolation due to the legacy of slavery. The original building opened in 1897 and operated as a 19-bed home until 1967, when it relocated to a larger facility. In 1985, the Eliza Bryant Center was opened in the inner city. The original Cedar Avenue building is now a halfway house for men recovering from substance abuse and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making it a significant site for both historical and social research.
