Kilkenny Courthouse

Kilkenny Courthouse, also known as Grace's Castle, is a historic judicial facility located in Parliament Street, Kilkenny, Ireland. Originally built in the 13th century as Grace's Castle, it served as a prison from 1566, with remnants of this history visible in the basement. The current neoclassical structure, designed by Sir Jerome Fitzpatrick and completed in 1792, features a striking symmetrical facade with an arcaded ground floor and a tetrastyle portico adorned with Doric columns. While it was initially a courthouse, it also served as the meeting place for Kilkenny County Council until the late 20th century. This blend of history and architecture makes it an intriguing site for both tourists and researchers.
