Federal Building (Wilkesboro, North Carolina)

The Federal Building, also known as the Wilkes County Board of Education Building, is a historic structure located in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect under James A. Wetmore and completed in 1915, this five-part brick building showcases the Federal Revival style. Its distinctive architecture includes a two-story central section with one-story entrances and wings, featuring decorative terra cotta elements. The building, which once housed a post office in its west wing, was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in early 20th-century architecture and local history.
