de Young Museum

The de Young Museum is part of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and occupies a building in Golden Gate Park redesigned by Herzog & de Meuron that opened in 2005. The museum traces its institutional roots to the 1895 California Midwinter International Exposition and now houses American art from the 17th through the 21st centuries, textiles, and art from the Americas, Africa, and Oceania. It hosts rotating special exhibitions, educational programs, and community events that contribute to San Francisco's visual arts culture.
