Espada Aqueduct and acequia system

Mission San Francisco de la Espada includes the Espada Aqueduct (Acequia del Espada), an 18th‑century masonry aqueduct built to carry irrigation water from the San Antonio River to mission fields. The acequia was constructed in the 1740s and portions of the original canal and masonry remain visible and in periodic use. The aqueduct and related irrigation features are interpreted as part of the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.
