Stax Museum / original Stax Records studio - home of seminal soul recordings

The Stax Records studio located on McLemore Avenue in Memphis is where artists such as Otis Redding, Booker T. & the M.G.'s, and Isaac Hayes recorded many influential soul tracks in the 1960s and early 1970s. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music now occupies the original site at McLemore Avenue and interprets the history of those performers and the label's role in American music. The museum includes reproductions of the original studio and artifacts related to the artists who recorded there.
