Gas Works Park - preserved gas plant structures as park landscape

Gas Works Park occupies the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company coal gasification plant on the north shore of Lake Union and preserves large sections of the plant’s industrial equipment and concrete structures as sculptural landscape elements. Designed by landscape architect Richard Haag, the park opened in 1975 and is frequently cited for its adaptive reuse of industrial infrastructure. The site offers public open space and panoramic views of the Seattle skyline across Lake Union.
