Lundagård (castle)

Lundagård, a historic castle in Sweden, served as a stronghold for the Danish archbishop of Lund during the Middle Ages, with its influence extending from the North German coast to the Arctic. Built around the year 1000, it featured a defensive wall, towers, and a courtyard that housed stables, barns, and two significant stone structures: a residence and a knight's hall. The site also included gardens, a royal mint, and the original bishop's church, which was later transformed into the renowned Lund cathedral. However, its prominence waned during the Danish Reformation, leading to its replacement by the royal residence known as Kungshuset.
