Old Bank House

Old Bank House is the oldest surviving brick-built house in Sheffield City Centre, constructed in 1728 by Quaker merchant Nicholas Broadbent. Initially ridiculed, it became a notable example of brick architecture by the 1720s. The building features a distinctive three-storey design with five bays and is marked by giant pilasters and a plain pediment. It served as a bank from 1771 to 1782 and has been restored to preserve its original panelling and plasterwork. Now Grade II* listed, it houses Bank House Chambers, the longest established barristers chambers in the North Eastern Circuit.
