Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House (National Museum of the American Indian)

The Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, designed by Cass Gilbert and completed in 1907, is a Beaux-Arts landmark located at Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan. Since 1994 the building has housed the New York branch of the National Museum of the American Indian, which presents galleries and exhibitions interpreting the histories and cultures of Indigenous peoples of the Americas. The Custom House's landmarked exterior and richly detailed public interiors reflect its original civic function and its later adaptive reuse as a cultural institution.
