Spirit of Detroit sculpture

The Spirit of Detroit is a large bronze sculpture by Marshall Fredericks installed on the exterior of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in 1958. The figure has become an official and widely recognized symbol of the city and is used in civic imagery and public ceremonies. The sculpture faces Woodward Avenue and is visible from the plaza in front of the municipal building.
