Oakridge Mall decline and planned transit village

Westfield Oakridge (commonly called Oakridge Mall) experienced prolonged retail decline and anchor-store vacancies during the 2010s. In response, the City of San Jose approved a redevelopment plan to replace the mall with a mixed-use "Oakridge Transit Village" centered on transit-oriented housing, retail, and public space. The project is intended to transform the traditional enclosed mall site into a higher-density, mixed-use neighborhood. The site has been the subject of formal planning approvals and public hearings by the City of San Jose.
