Raceland (estate)

Raceland was a historic 220-acre estate in Framingham, Massachusetts, originally owned by John R. Macomber. Established in 1925, it featured a grand wooden residence, stables, a horse track, and a golf course. The estate hosted thoroughbred racing events until 1935 and was known for its annual horse meet, attracting thousands of spectators. After a devastating fire in 1930, Raceland was rebuilt with fire-resistant materials. The estate later became a site for dog shows and vintage car club meetings. Following Macomber's death in 1955, it was preserved for animal care and eventually transformed into a working farm and educational facility. Today, part of the estate is a conservation area with public hiking trails.
