Old Lutheran Parsonage

The Old Lutheran Parsonage, built in 1743, is the oldest building in Schoharie County, New York, and one of the oldest religious structures in the state. Originally serving as both a church and a residence for Pastor Peter Nicholas Sommer, who arrived from Germany, the parsonage has a rich history, surviving the British forces' destruction during the American Revolution. After various uses and a period of abandonment, it was restored and opened as a museum by the Schoharie Colonial Heritage Association. Today, it stands as a testament to early German Lutheran settlement and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
